PyData Tutorial: Sisyphus was not a Role Model -- by Simone Robutti

Details
On our second January meetup, on 23/1, Simone Robutti will give a detailed tutorial (approximately 2 hours) on good coding practices when writing (Python) code, titled "Sisyphus was not a Role Model"
Abstract:
Working smart is better than working hard, especially when you're writing code. Do you feel like you're solving the same problem day after day? Do you think there must be a better way? Sometimes there is.
In this lecture I will present how software developers think about code and explain how this can help other coders work less and better. I will try to convince you that good looking code leads to improved solutions and clearer thoughts.
Half of the talk will be theoretical, while the other half will make use of python to exemplify the concepts of the first half, but will stay generic enough to apply the same examples to any language.
Target Audience:
The tutorial is tailored for people with no formal training, but with basic knowledge, of programming. No specific background is required and laptops are not necessary.
If you are a person that:
- Learned to code at Uni for particular projects
- Codes because it is fun and you want to learn more
- Writes code at work or for your studies
this tutorial might be helpful for you
Speaker Bio:
Simone Robutti graduated in Computer Science in Milan, with a focus on Machine Learning. In the last three years he worked as a Machine Learning Engineer and Data Engineer with Spark and Flink, using Scala and Python as main languages. He's interested in the issues of scalability, testability and deployability of machine learning algos and apps. He recently left his job to improve his practical knowledge of Deep Learning.
