Real Time AI on the Edge: Lessons from Energy Toolbase

Details

We're teaming up with PyYYC for another joint session this month! We will feature two talks:

Real Time AI on the Edge
Anton Biryukov and Jules LaPrairie

Python For Data Analysis Using Pandas And Seaborn
Oscar Kwok

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This month for PyData Calgary we will have Anton Biryukov and Jules LaPrairie discuss strategies employed and lessons learned from building and running a distributed, AI powered IoT solution.

Energy Toolbase (a Pason Company) is an industry-leading software platform that provides a cohesive suite of project estimation, storage control, and asset monitoring products that enable solar and storage developers to more efficiently deploy projects. Our SaaS products are used by over 1,200 distributed energy organizations worldwide. DS/ML tools enable us to optimize our clients' energy asset value by providing energy bill savings, and power reliability while reducing their environmental footprint.
In our presentation, we will discuss:

• what unites geophysical well logs, wearable technologies, and utility bills,
• how these analogues allow us to create intelligent real-time energy control systems
• the applications of AI to our business line end-to-end: from the proposal stage all the way to control system deployment and operation monitoring.

We will also cover our core IoT software/ML deployment frameworks, how the components of control system interact with each other, and lessons learned in the process. Specifically, we'll look at the ways we leverage Python, docker, mqtt, and AWS IoT core to build, test, and deliver our microservices oriented software components as well as the challenges involved in integrating with different vendors and staying secure throughout the process.
