PyData Cluj: Meetup 8

Details
We are pleased to announce the 8th edition of the PyData Cluj-Napoca meetup. This meetup will be organized with the support of Sortlist, and two presentations are scheduled:
"A deep dive into the convolution operation" by Romain Thalineau
CNNs (Convolutional Neural Networks) are partially responsible for the success of Deep Learning. But what makes convolution so powerful? In this presentation, we will dive into the magic of the convolution operation starting from a simple intuition to the use of convolution in image processing and Deep Learning.
"Applications of Complex Network Theory in social groups - how to build a recommendation system" by Bogdan Mursa
One field that proposes a framework willing to help us better understand complex systems around us is Network Theory. Part of the Graph Theory, the mechanism approached by this field is to encode the entities and the interactions between them as topological structures represented as graphs. What makes these mathematical objects so powerful is that they encapsulate in their underlying graph contextual information offered by the modeled real-world system. By making use of practical example, the goal of this session is to serve as a comprehensive introduction to state-of-the art procedures of modelling, respectively analysing of Complex Networks.
While going through these notions, we will develop together a recommender system using the theory of ’open-triangles’ in social communities.
Technological stack: Python, Jupyter, NetworkX, nxviz, Pandas
PyData is all about exchange of knowledge and ideas so apart from these 2 presentations, there will be time to talk and interact with attendees and speakers.
