PyData Lancaster is the Lancaster chapter of the International PyData Community.
For Lancastrians who are interested in all things data. We are not restricted to Python in particular but also welcome any other data tools.
PyData provides a forum for the international community of users and developers of data analysis tools to share ideas and learn from each other. The global PyData network promotes discussion of best practices, new approaches, and emerging technologies for data management, processing, analytics, and visualization. PyData communities approach data science using many languages, including (but not limited to) Python, Julia, and R.
We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free meeting experience for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of meeting participants in any form.
All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience including people of many different backgrounds. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks.
Be kind to others.
Do not insult or put down other attendees. Behave professionally. Remember that harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary jokes are not appropriate for PyData.
Hello and welcome to PyData Lancaster!
We will be having our first meeting in October. This meeting will not be a typical PyData meeting but rather an introduction type meeting to:
- Introduce what PyData is and why we are starting a chapter here
- Share the vision and plan for the meetup
- See what your expectations are for the meeting so that we can have a data science group which works for everyone!
If you have any questions, send us a message on your preferred social media platform.
Also, lend your voice before the meeting and let us know what you want out of this meeting! Here is a simple survey: https://forms.gle/wqUL1HqJwy5ALRH87

We will meet at the Herbarium, in the upstairs room. They have a great selection of cakes, coffee, tea, soft and boozy drinks.
We welcome everyone with an interest in all things data, from beginners to seasoned pros, whether you work in linguistics, journalism, eCommerce, physics, or anything in between. We're big fans of open source. Python and R are data science staples, but other languages and perspectives are are more than welcome!
