"Transforming millions of user events in a top destinations ranking with PySpark", Diego García (Data Engineer at Bluekiri).

At Bluekiri we work with millions of events gathered from users web navigation. So, in this talk we will show how we process all this information to generate rankings of destinations. This way, we can tell which are the top 10 destinations enriching for instance the holidays landing page.

First of all, we would like to introduce PySpark and some distributed systems concepts to understand how it works. Then, we will show how we use this framework to process users events stored in MongoDB and generate top-K destinations rankings.

Diego García works as a Data Engineer at Bluekiri. He holds a PhD in Robotics focused on applying Big Data analytics in the water sector and a Engineer’s Degree in Computer Science. Before Bluekiri, he worked 1 year and half in a data analytics consultancy on a retail recommendation engine project, 3 years in a water utility on data science and data engineer projects, and 4 years in research projects based on robotics and control&automation systems.

Sin entrar en debates de qué lenguaje es mejor para el análisis de datos, presentamos dos paquetes para utilizar R en Python (rpy2) y Python dentro de R (reticulate).
