PyData @ Finance

Details

We are very pleased to invite you to our next event! This time the meetup will be finance focused and coorganized by Markus Baden, who already helped out very much with our super successful Blockchain Xmas event, thanks Markus!

Also, we have a wonderful Apero (thank you d-fine!) prepared after the talks, starting at 20:00, so we'd be very pleased to have everyone stick around for some socializing!

We are very excited to present the following talks:

Christian Fischer, Lifu Jing, Pensionskasse der Credit Suisse Schweiz, Christian Wuchte, d-fine

"Data Driven Analytics and Stakeholder Reporting for a Cross Asset Portfolio" / How do you make sense of a large portfolio spanning traditional and alternative investments? By leveraging state of the art Python tools! Christian, Lifu and Christian will show how they use the PyData stack to clean, transform and enrich data delivered to the Pension Fund, as well as to provide simple, unified programmatic access to the data to their portfolio managers. On top they show how to use dash dashboards to provide easy access to high level information, all so they can improve the investment decision making progress.

Felix Zumstein, Zoomer Analytics

"Python & Excel in Finance" / Felix, the creator and maintainer of xlwings, will talk about the (ab)use of spreadsheets in the financial industry and show some real world examples of how xlwings is being used at banks, hedge funds and other financial companies.

Paul Hughes, Credit Suisse
"Building Data-Driven Client Relationship Management in Banking" / Paul will present a case study that documents how a small data science team in a big bank took on the challenge to transform a fragmented sales process into a data-driven one using Python and machine learning. The challenge they faced included many clients with diverse needs, cost pressures, multiple sales channels and mixed service levels, and of course: Excel spreadsheets everywhere. The PyData stack enabled the solution: go data-driven, learn from clients and understand product usage and build a front-to-back sales process (with no more Excels!).

The event is hosted by the Zurich Quant Finance Alumni, together with d-fine.
