ABOUT THE TALK
Are you curious how open source projects are created and maintained? Are you interested in contributing to open source? With Hacktoberfest launching on October 1st and FOSS projects actively seeking contributors of all skill levels, this is a great time to get started in open source using Git and GitHub.

Kati Michel started her journey in open source by contributing a recipe to a taco recipe sharing project. She eventually became a professional open source maintainer. Kati learned how to use Git and GitHub through trial and error and often felt confused about the process. In this talk, she will walk you through the collaboration and code review process that she learned over time, in the hopes that it will help others avoid the frustration she has experienced. It is her goal to help you started collaborating and doing code review in no time.

The talk will also include a few practical tips for how to get involved in Hacktoberfest (https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com/).
