PyLadies February Meetup at Ubisoft: Making eggtimer, an open source app!

Details

Hi all,

Please join us on Tuesday February 23 at 6:30pm for this month's PyLadies meet-up at Ubisoft Toronto! We have a great talk lined up, and food and drinks and time to mingle afterwards. It should be a blast!

Speaker: Jessamyn Smith

Talk: Building eggtimer, an open-source menstrual tracker

Description: Jessamyn will be presenting “eggtimer (https://eggtimer.herokuapp.com)”, her open-source menstrual tracker written in Django & Ionic. Come learn about why eggtimer was created, how it was developed, and what features have been added so far. Also included: a shameless plug to get involved, either as a user or a developer!

Bio: Jessamyn is an experienced full-stack software developer with over a decade in the field, primarily in back-end development for web applications. Her specialties are debugging, software design, refactoring legacy code, adding automated tests, and automating builds and deployments. She is a licensed professional engineer with a degree in Computer Engineering. She is Interim CTO at ziversity.com (https://www.ziversity.com/), a diversity recruiting platform that offers women, LGBTQ people, racial/ethnic minorities, Indigenous peoples, and persons with (dis)abilities a safe space to embrace their identity and add context to their experiences in the recruiting and job seeking process.

She is a frequent mentor and occasional instructor at Ladies Learning Code.

Ubisoft Toronto is a growing and diverse team on a collective mission to create what’s next in AAA games. Whether as an elite spy, a master assassin, or a fearless explorer, we put the player at the heart of all our games. Since opening the studio in 2010, the team shipped the critically-acclaimed Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist as lead studio, and Assassin’s Creed Unity, Far Cry 4, and Far Cry Primal in collaboration with Ubisoft Montreal. In 2012, we opened our state-of-the-art Performance Capture Studio, and our Playtest Lab to help us make our games more immersive, and more fun to play.
