Talks Level: Beginner

Talk 1 - Python in Bioinformatics
During this talk, we will explore how to use python in Bioinformatics research

Speaker:
Parimala Devi

Experienced Bioinformatician with a demonstrated history of working in the biotechnology industry. Skilled in Bioinformatics analysis, bioinformatics pipeline building, Python, Snakemake work flow management, Git version control, SLURM. Strong research professional with a Master of Science (MS) focused in Bioinformatics from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Talk 2 - Python in Astrochemical Research

During the presentation, I will talk about the advantages of using python in Astrochemistry and give examples of Python libraries, such as AtsroPy, that are commonly used in Astrochemical Research.

Speaker:
Amanda Alvarado

I am currently doing my master's in Physical Chemistry at the University of Puerto Rico. My research focuses on the study of water molecules in star forming regions. I am passionate about learning and incorporating different disciplines into my research work. Besides Astrochemistry, I love cooking and spending time with my dog, Laika.

Talk 3 - The Role of Python in the Data science lifecycle

In this talk you will hear about the role of Python in the data science development process, starting with the importance of data exploration, machine learning model development, and the concept of MLOps. The talk will discuss a few real-world use cases such as churn prediction, useful for exploring if customers will leave a service, and clustering for identifying customers who behave in a similar way. These techniques are crucial in a time when providing customers a seamless experience can make or break a business.

Speaker:
Katinka Gereb
