Data science subfields – a live recording of the podcast Build a Career in Data Science
Data science has all sorts of specializations--experimentation, recommendation systems, forecasting, and more. What are these sub-fields all about, and when does it make sense to specialize in one versus staying a generalist? Emily and Jacqueline will be doing a live recording of their well-reviewed podcast, Build a Career in Data Science, in which they’ll chat all about this topic. The second half of the show will be a live Q&A session - so come with your burning career questions!
Speakers:
Emily Robinson is a senior data scientist at Warby Parker, where she works on a centralized team tackling some of the company’s biggest projects. Previously she worked at DataCamp, where she built and ran their experimentation system, and at Etsy, where she worked with their search team.
Dr. Jacqueline Nolis is a data science leader with over 15 years of experience in leading data science teams and projects at companies ranging from DSW to Airbnb. Today she is the Head of Data Science at Saturn Cloud. For fun Jacqueline likes to use data science for humor—like using deep learning to generate offensive license plates.
Together, Emily Robinson and Jacqueline Nolis are the authors of the book, Build a Career in Data Science, and the accompanying podcast.
