Intermediate Python Practice Group
Hosted by PyLadies - Minnesota
Details
We're starting a new study group directed at people who have some experience with python, but want to keep their skills active and gain some new ones. This will be the first of what will hopefully be weekly meetings.
Rough Agenda:
6-6:30: introductions, chatting about backgrounds and learning needs
6:30-7:30: Split into smaller groups to write code
7:30-8: (optional) Share solutions, get/give feedback
Questions we imagine may be frequently asked:
Q: Am I an intermediate python coder?
A: If you're comfortable defining functions and writing scripts that use if/else statements, for/while loops, and lists/strings/integers/floats from scratch and without looking up syntax, you should be good to go. If you're not, check out our Learn Python for Beginners study group!
Q: What kinds of problems will you be working on?
A: Whatever kind you want to work on! The ideas we'll bring are going through banks of problems like codekata.com, projecteuler.net, or maybe doing interview practice from codefights.com or codewars.com.
Q: I'm a man. Can I come to this event?
A: Eventually we hope the answer will be yes, but since we're just starting this set of events and this is a women-centered group, we'd like to start with these being just for women.
