Joseph Shelby: When Bad Design Happens to Good People
Details
November's PyNash is all about systems design! Our speaker, Joseph Shelby, comes to us from Asurion, where he's a senior engineer on the Platform Architecture team.
Have you ever built a system so poorly designed and unintuitive that it nearly caused a nuclear catastrophe? If so then this talk is for you!
While no one intentionally creates a bad design, sometimes we end up with one despite our best efforts. This discussion will focus on ways we can avoid bad system design by examining how good intentions go awry. We'll also introduce considerations for human-centered design, as well as other good programming and design principles that can help make our systems more robust, resilient, and even user-friendly!
