WHY: "You will learn the basics of programming so that you can automate simple...simple but time-consuming for humans, and they’re often so trivial or specific that there’s no ready-made software to perform them. Armed with a little bit of programming knowledge, you can have your computer do these tasks for you."

COHORTS:
The book club will have two cohorts:
Part 1 for people who are beginners in coding.
Part 2 for for people who are familiar with code.
Note: This book club is a space to discuss and study with peers. If you are seeking more support while learning to code, I would recommend workshops!

SCHEDULE:
1:00-1:30: Part 1 group Chapter 3 discussion
1:30-2:00: Part 2 group Chapter 5 and 6 discussion
2:00-2:30: Q&A among each group
a) Designate session leader for next meeting. b) Dedicated study time.

PLEASE HAVE:

  • coffee, tea, drink of choice
  • notebook and pen
  • laptop :P

CONVENTIONS
Join us for coffee and Python as we tackle the book’s sections one at a time online with PyLadies LA.

Each book club session will have a leader to guide the discussion, and we encourage everyone to take a look at the material beforehand. The book we are focusing on is "Automate the Boring Stuff with Python" by Al Sweigart. The full text of the book is online for free at:
