Python in the service of the open data community

Details

A new edition of our Python / Django meetup in Bern.

Oleg Lavrovsky will be talking about Python in the service of the open data community, with a focus on Open Government Data. The domains of Python and open development are closely linked, through a number of technical projects used for freely accessible infrastructure for data collection, visualisation or analysis. We will explore uses of Python for managing information sources, cover the basics of tools like SQLAlchemy and Pandas. Then we will dive into several real world projects ranging from community initiatives, to non-profit and government administrations, and show how you can make use of / contribute to them.

The meetup is as always open for additional talks and contributions, so don't hesitate to contact the organizers.

Afterwards there will be time to meet people and have some beers.py together.

The event will be hosted by http://Datalets.ch in a new space for digital projects currently being constructed by the http://Effinger.ch community. Apero sponsored by Liip (http://liip.ch), the location by 89grad (http://89grad.ch).
