Python at work in Data Science

Details
This month's Python Northwest group will feature two talks showing how Python can be used in industry in two different ways. It will be held at Federation House again, but this time in the Solidarity room on the lower ground floor.
Talk 1 - Data Science in Production: A Toy Example
Data Science in production is difficult. We'll be discussing some important issues to consider when operating a data science inference application, by introducing a toy example. We'll be focusing on a prediction model serving predictions on a Flask application, deployed to Kubernetes using Google Cloud Build.
John is a Manchester based Data Scientist, he runs PDFTA LTD, helping SMEs and local government organisations make better use of their data. He has a PhD in Wheat genetics and spends his free time being frustrated by various sports teams.
Talk 2 - Python in Pipeline Pilot
Pipeline Pilot is a popular tool used in Chem and Bio Infomatics. In this talk we'll see what it does and how its power to do Data Science can be increased by invoking Python libraries within its framework.
Adam is a Manchester based software consultant and the organiser of Python Northwest. His background is in Physics but now he mostly makes websites for consumer product scientists. He collects guitars and occasionally plays them.
