Got expertise in tech? Come share your skills for a good cause!
The month of May commemorates the International Day Against Homo/Trans-phobia. To celebrate, we will host an interactive event where you can offer your knowledge to help LGBTQ charities and advocacy groups.
Two charity/community groups will explain the challenges they face in their day-to-day operations. You will then have the opportunity to suggest web apps, hacks, IT solutions or tech expertise that can solve these problems. Together, we will be able to help these great organisations offer more services to LGBTQ people in need.
The community groups served at this event will be PFLAG and Helem. (See comment's section below for further details.)
There will be refreshments and SOME booze, so it's mainly BYOB, meaning we encourage you to bring a beverage of choice.
The discussion will begin with a short presentation by Jason of Queer Tech on examples of how the LGBTQ community uses tech to fight prejudice and advance human rights.
