Stress is something we can all relate to in our lives.
Three-quarters of Irish workers thought work has become increasingly stressful and stress and anxiety was ranked as the number one work health concern with more than half of workers experience issues according to a recent Aviva survey.
Stress is something that can impact on your daily life but also your long term health. According to the United States Center for Disease Control, 90% of all illness and disease is caused by stress.
Being aware of stress is the first step to better management of stress. With the latest developments in Quantified Self tools, measuring stress through Heart Rate Variability, Galvanic Skin Response and Brainwave Activity we can track stress over time.
With techniques such as biofeedback and neurofeedback training we can learn to develop ways to better handle stress.
For our September QS meetup, we have two stress experts, neurologically based chiropractor, Dr. Tammy Verlaan-Ross and data scientist Peter Ross from Life and Balance Centre (http://www.lifeandbalance.ie/), a stress management clinic.
Tammy & Peter will talk about measuring stress and how we can use the latest quantified self tools to manage stress better, including a live demonstration of some of the technology they use and how you can train to manage stress better with this technology.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
