This Club is sponsored by the Small Business Development Center at LaGardia Community College in Long Island City, Queens. We are also an affiliate club of the United Inventors Association.
We are excited to announce our guest speaker, Morris J. Newman, Executive Director of the Pro Bono Advisory Council (PBAC)
As the Executive Director of PBAC, Morris Newman assists the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in the administration of their pro bono program for under-resourced inventors. The program is a partnership with 21 independent non-profit organizations who match inventors with volunteer attorneys.
PBAC is focused on: Guaranteeing the financial stability of the partner programs; developing commercialization opportunities for the inventors; and growing the pro bono program through inventor and attorney outreach.
Mr. Newman’s career focus has been on leveling the playing field for the disadvantaged. Prior to taking the PBAC position, he had an over 40 year career with the federal government, first as an economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics and then as an investigator for the National Labor Relations Board. Mr. Newman obtained his BA in Economics from the University of Connecticut in 1975.
This meet up will be our last meeting before the summer break. Our next meeting will be in September.
