In this month's edition of Lunch & Code, we have Skylar MacDonald presenting an informative talk, followed by an afternoon of coding.
Falsehoods Programmers Believe About Me - Skylar MacDonald
Recently, I changed my name. In the words of Douglas Adams, “this has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.” This talk is a look at how sometimes when we are designing systems, we don’t think about every possible way in which they are going to be used—and how not thinking about that can have unintended but very negative consequences on the people we intend to use them.
Bio
I do things in telly and radio. I build broadcast systems and web stuff at Tiny Kettle, and assemble shows for London Live. I previously did technology for some internet companies and a very, very fast car.

After the talk there will be time for questions, followed by an afternoon of coding! Bring your personal projects, your ideas, even your homework! This is a great opportunity to get feedback on your own projects.
If you don't have your own laptop: please come anyway—we can pair you up with someone who does have a laptop. We're all super friendly and often pair together.
If you're new to the group: we know it can be difficult to join a new social group, so we offer a Buddy Scheme to make it easier. We arrange to have one of our team meet you before the meetup starts, and to help introduce you to the group. If you're not sure what to work on but would like the chance to practice and develop your skills, we will have experts on hand to give you suggestions and help.
As well as coding, there will be plenty of time to meet other queer coders.
