Lunch & Code With Jo Franchetti.
Details
Our regular Lunch & Code event. This week our speaker is Jo Franchetti!
Jo is a front end developer with 6 years experience working in various parts of the tech industry from startups, agencies, charities to large organisations like Ticketmaster/Live Nation. She is a coach and organiser of Codebar and a coach at Code Your Future. She also runs a monthly event called Achieving Diversity in the Technology Industry.
The talk will be on:
CSS in JS demystified. How styled-components can help us with namespacing in our CSS. With minimal setup and config you can solve the problem of global css in your react apps. I'll give you a brief history of CSS in JS and a code along example to get you started.
If you don't have your own laptop: please come anyway--we can pair you up with someone who does have a laptop. We're all super friendly and often pair together.
If you're new to the group: we know it can be difficult to join a new social group, so we offer a Buddy Scheme to make it easier. We arrange to have one of our team meet you before the meetup starts, and to help introduce you to the group. For more info, see our Buddy Scheme page (https://github.com/qcldn/docs/blob/master/buddy.md).
------
If you'd rather just come and work on your own stuff, that's fine too. Bring your personal projects, your ideas, even your homework! This is a great opportunity to get feedback on your own projects.
If you're not sure what to work on but would like the chance to practice and develop your skills, we will have experts on hand to give you suggestions and help.
As well as coding, there will be plenty of time to meet other queer developers.

Accessibility:
The building is located in a large square. It can be a little difficult to find. The building has a large glass front and a large purple sign reading "ZPG".
Come to Copper Row via Lafone Street to have access to a ramp to the building. It's easy to miss but it definitely exists!
This will also negate the need to use stairs to get up to the entrance.
If you come from another direction (Copper Row via Horselydown Lane), walk to the very end and walk up the steps. The door will be on your right.
Although there is a small lift to get up the 8 or so stairs from the outside of the building to the front entrance, we cannot guarantee its use on the day.
We'll be in the Cafe area on the first floor. There are lifts inside the building to get up there, as well as a staircase.
