Upcoming events (2)

Rademacher Hills, Trona Pinnacles, Spangler Hills Camp-n-Ride

We will camp off of Trona Rd. For those that have camped with me before, this is a new location that is further East on Trona Rd. It is 4.74 miles East of Highway 395, turn left on RM15. I will post a sign on the left side of the road pointing towards our campsite. Once on RM15, continue to the far Northern section of this dry lake bed. I posted a picture of my RV in the Photo album. Friday April 3rd. - Leave camp at 10AM We will head into the Eastern El Paso Mountains. Then over to Sheep Springs, down into the Narrows and then cross the valley and have lunch in Randsburg. This ride will be about 50 miles round trip. There are some rocky sections but for 4-wheel vehicles I would rate this as low intermediate. Saturday April 4th - Leave camp at 9AM We will ride into the Rademacher Hills just above RIdgecrest. We will then head East and take a loop around the rocks at Wagon Wheel (Charlies Place) and then continue on and check out the Fish Rocks. This is a good spot to have lunch. This is a 70+ mile round trip ride. Next we will head South and ride over to the Trona Pinnacles. We will then cruise down a Teagle Wash Rd and head into the Spangler Hills. From there we will drop down into some old mining hills and back over to our Trona Rd. Camp. This ride has several sections of deep twisting sand washes with obstacles. I would rate this as intermediate for 4 wheel vehicles and advanced for our 2-wheel friends. Sunday April 5th If anyone is interested, we will leave early (8AM) and head over to the Husky Memorial. We will then head back across Cuddeback Dry Lake and plan to be back at camp by Noon. Open to suggestions for an alternative destination. I have posted a GPX file on my website that includes the routes for both Friday and Saturday rides. https://www.barrysutvadventures.com/uploads/3/0/6/3/30636499/april_2020_ride.gpx This ride has been posted to other Meetup sites and may include vehicles other than SxS's. Afton Canyon Camp-n-Ride

Afton Canyon Campground

We will be camping at the Afton Canyon Campground. It has 22 primitive campsites for tents, RVs and trailers. Each site has a picnic table and fire grill. Pit toilets are nearby. No reservations available - all campsites are first-come, first served. I have not yet created the routes for Friday and Saturday but will post them in a couple weeks. We will cross over the Mojave River which normally runs underground and Afton Canyon is one of the few places where it runs on the surface. We will also visit the Mojave Megaphone, Spooky Cave, Mojave Desert Lava Tube and the Rasor OHV Area (sand dunes). I will update this event and post a GPX file shortly.
