What we're about
RIoT Atlanta is the Atlanta chapter of the RIoT organization. Collectively RIoT represents a network of technologists, engineers, business leaders, academics, policy makers, and entrepreneurs, all of whom have a stake in the Internet of Things industry. Companies ranging from startups to international heavyweights meet frequently to exchange ideas, to learn new technologies, and to create new opportunities. The Internet of Things is here, and it’s growing. Our mission is to create a community that captures IoT opportunities locally, nationally, and globally.

Join this Virtual Lunch & Learn with Paige Niedringhaus from Blues Wireless!
75% of IoT projects undertaken today fail, and it's no wonder when archaic AT commands, lack of security, and reinventing the wheel to solve for the same basic functionality are still considered "the norm." It's still unnecessarily complex, and it doesn't have to be.
Create React App debuted in 2016 and broke down the barriers in web development to get a project up and running in mere minutes, ushering in a new era of innovation. IoT development needs to take inspiration from this, because it still has so much promise to realize.
During this talk, we'll examine pain points present in IoT development today, see how CRA solved similar issues in web development, and explore solutions for the Internet of Things with live coded demos to show how simple IoT development can be. My goal is to inspire you to try that IoT project yourself.

Join this Lunch & Learn with Greg Patterson from Porticos!
More and more of today’s devices are a combination of mechanics, hardware and software. While each discipline would like to believe that they are the instrumental piece of the puzzle that will ensure a successful product, the fact is success requires each discipline to work in concert.
This Lunch & Learn will look at product development from the eyes of the mechanical engineer. Providing insight into the thought process, discussing good design practices and how they might impact hardware or software, and describing the tools available, when they are used and how they can improve the quality of the design. By gaining a better understanding of the mechanical design process the goal is to enhance the spirit of collaboration between the three major disciplines and justify the importance of that collaboration.
This Lunch & Learn has the option to participate In-Person at Porticos, Inc. in Morrisville, NC or virtually via Zoom!
