Action required - Important National bylaws amendment pending

Good morning fellow liberty lover!

A majority of the RLC National Board voted week before last to hold a special online convention on February 10th for the sole purpose of passing a bylaws amendment that modifies who will be eligible to vote at our National Convention at Austin in March.

Currently any dues paid member who attends the convention can vote for Officer and Bylaws changes. This gives the host state a “geographic advantage”, because those outside the state must spend more time and money to travel than those within the state.

The proposed bylaws changes will apportion voting delegates to the National Convention based on the size of each state’s current membership. This means the host state will only carry as much weight as their membership merits via the new calculations. Likewise, a large state like Florida would be fully represented at a much lower cost to its members than what is in place now.

As with any bylaws amendment there are notification requirement deadlines that must be met. I am sad to say it appears certain members of the National Board are trying to prevent this amendment from moving forward by “burying” it in committee and running out the clock.

Our bylaws say the general membership can petition National directly for bylaws changes, so I have created an online petition to do just that. Please click here to read the proposed amendment and sign the petition if you agree with the changes. We are already almost half way to the required number of signatures, and I believe we can have what we need by close of business tomorrow if everyone will take a moment to sign and ask their friends to do the same.

Thank you for all of your hard work to reform the Republican Party. With your help we can ensure the RLC is run in a bottom up fashion, and those states who work so hard to increase membership are rewarded for their efforts with proportional representation at the National Convention.
