Turn Data into Value with Apache Spark and R on Big Data Platforms

Details
Our last meetup at Disney was a great event, with an excellent presentation by Levon from Disney and live discussion about big data platform. Let us continue our discussion about big data platform.
In the past, we had two (2) meetings about Apache Spark, as Spark is now becoming the big-data platform of choice for enterprises. According to a recent Taneja Group survey of 7,000 technology professionals, Spark has become the de facto processing engine for Hadoop and the general engine for modern analytic use cases. Partially for this, a few requests were made to have another meetup on Apache Spark. So, let us also meet to discuss about Apache Spark again, that our next meetup will be for Apache Spark and Big Data Platform.
2017 is called as the year of value for data science, that is, now what expected is to generate value out from data, rather just to create new systems with big promises. So, for this reason, our focus for this meetup will be about turning big data into value with Apache Spark and other big data platforms.
For this meetup, I ( Alex Liu, Chief Data Scientist at IBM Analytics Services ) will volunteer myself to make a presentation and lead the discussion, and then welcome others to jump in, as I recently had two great meetups about Apache Spark in Chicago and in Wisconsin that were well received, as you see at:

And also, I have a book published in May 2016 about Apache Spark Machine Learning as you see as below

As before, Starbucks coffee and cookies will be provided.
The meeting will start at 7pm sharp, with presentation scheduled for about one hour, and a one hour Q&As expected to follow, plus networking after Q&A as always.
Parking along the Brand Blvd costs about $1.50 per hour, and you may find free parking in nearby small streets.
