What we're about
The Royal Photographic Society is an educational charity founded in 1853 with a membership open to anyone with an interest in photography. The Society continues to play an important role in promoting the art and science of photography worldwide.
The RPS has just over 1000 members in the Southern Region, which embraces Hampshire, and parts of Sussex, Surrey and Dorset. We also extend to the Channel Islands, and have a planned event already booked for Guernsey in February 2016.
We created our Southern Region's Meetup group for the purpose of organising and managing spontaneous photo shoots, events and social gatherings, alongside more formal RPS events.
For example, a social event might translate to a couple of hours shooting at a place of interest such as a Christmas Market, then perhaps convening for a hot chocolate, and natter afterwards.
We are actively working at building our community across the Region. We welcome photographers of all genres and skill levels. All that is required is enthusiasm, and a passion to capture moments with whichever camera and equipment you have at your disposal, even mobile phone cameras capture moments!
Thank you for dropping by. Please click join if we fit your bill. We hope to meet you at a Meetup soon!
