VR and Immersive Analytics In Action w/ SAS Institute

Details
RTPVR is proud to host Michael Thomas, Systems Architect of SAS Institute, who will talk about Immersive Analytics with a focus on a VR prototype shown at the National Retail Federation Big Show in New York City in January. “Immersive Analytics” is a term adopted by IEEE that spans analytical applications across AR, VR and large flat screen approaches. Michael will speak about the prototype demo, the strong showing of VR at the Big Show including the debut of multiple VR products and the unique challenges of bringing VR in to the enterprise software market. The concepts of augmented virtual reality and data reality will be discussed as concrete approaches for expressing data in virtual reality. The prototype will be available for demos.
As always, RTPVR will be filling the room with Virtual Reality Professionals and Enthusiasts, as well as demos for all to try.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
Event Location: The Event will be in the Bullpen (basement floor, main room) of American Underground @Main. Doors open at 5:45pm.
Parking: There are several parking garages in downtown Durham. We recommend the garage at Corcoran St and Ramseur St (entrance on Corcoran St). It is on the same block as the AU @ Main and the parking is free after 7pm (even if you enter before 7pm).
Demoing: Everyone is welcome to bring their VR headsets to give demos. If you will be demoing, send us a message or comment below so we have enough tables ready.
Let us know if you have a start-up, project, or area of expertise that you would like to present.
Support: Please support the RTPVR Meetup by clicking the Green Chip-In Button on the left side of our meetup page.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 27th! Feel free to reach out to us on Meetup if you have any questions.
