Presentation: Applications of Graph Databases and the Semantic Web

Details
Join us at 7PM on Wednesday, September 12th when one of our members, Bryan Thompson, will discuss his work in the fields of big data, graph databases, and semantic web technologies. Bryan is a Chief Scientist at Systap software ( http://www.systap.com/ (http://www.systap.com/index.htm)) and will be a presenter at the national NoSQL conference in San Jose, CA in August. His presentation for the group will include:
-
A review of trends in graph, big data, and semantic web technologies.
-
Some practical insights for implementing these technologies.
-
A discussion of the bigdata platform, an open-source horizontally scaled semantic web/graph database.
-
Followed by a Q&A.
Light refreshments will be provided. The meeting will conclude by 8PM.For those interested, we can go grab some food at one of the restaurants nearby on Main Street after the meeting.
Abstract: Big data, SSD, graphs, GPUs, bio-informatics and more. A review of the trends driving the intersection of graph, big data, and semantic web technologies. How to recognize when to apply each technology. Discussion of the bigdata platform, an open source, horizontally scaled semantic web / graph database as well as several domains where the bigdata platform is being used today.
