Mr. Bryan B. Thompson is the co-founder and Chief Scientist of SYSTAP, LLC and the chief architect of bigdata®. He has focused on applied research and development and emerging technology over a 30 year period spanning the public and private sector. His technical background includes expertise in cloud computing; the semantic web; web architecture; relational, object, and RDF database architectures; knowledge management and collaboration; artificial intelligence and connectionist models; natural language processing; metrics, scalability studies, benchmarks and performance tuning; decision support systems; and usability design. His work for the last several years has focused on developing bigdata®, work that was born from assessing and applying Semantic Web technologies to support semantics-based federation of disparate data sources for the Intelligence Community. http://www.systap.com http://www.bigdata.com/blog
One of the leaders in RDF database technology. I lead the development one of the fastest and most scalable RDF database platforms. My focus in on the data scale rather than DL reasoning, but I also have a strong interest in reasoning over uncertain data and critical thinking about uncertainty in evidentiary reasoning. My current interests are new architectures for RDF databases, join and query optimization, and GPGPU clusters for accelerated graph data mining.
I have been working in AI, decision support, machine learning, cognitive science, neural networks since the 1980s. Since 2006, SYSTAP has been developing a horizontally scaled, open source RDF database platform, bigdata(R).
