What we're about
Upcoming events (3)
Where: Stokes State Forest. I'm on site T21 in Lake Ocquittunk
When: Fri to Mon July 2-5
Feel free to join me a for a few days in July. There are plenty of hiking trails that leave right from the campground. Campsites are $20/night with no hookups and are going fast.
For those camping we'll meet at site T-21 for a 9AM departure.
Recommendations: This event may include moderate to strenuous hikes and requires that you be accountable for your own physical conditioning and capability. Please confirm you don't have any medical conditions and you're capable of hiking (at a minimum) 8 miles in 4 hours and have hiking gear appropriate for the season and the conditions.
This will be a longer hike with jump off points. For those wanting to do a shorter hike (6 miles) please be prepared to navigate yourself back (bring a map etc.). We will plan to visit the Culver Fire Tower first before heading over to Sunrise Mountain Overlook for a snack break. From there we have a longer option to take the BML trail down to the Steam Mill camping area and back along the Flat Brook River past the Environmental Center or take a shorter option. The longer option would be an all day hike of about 13 miles.
Length: 6-13 miles, depending on the route
Duration: 3-5 hours
Difficulty: Moderate to Strenuous
Rain date will be Sunday July 4.

Help me plan the Epic Journey. We'll layout a caravan that includes some of the best spots around the country and try to stitch together routes that take advantage of the seasons and low crowds. Going out one way and coming back another. Sharing the enjoyment of a life long journey within the safety of a fun group of friends. Where would you love to go but haven't had the time to visit yet, or would like to go back and stay longer? Or been too worried to venture off alone? Which season would you pick to be there? Spring, Fall...........perhaps both? Alaska, Canada, Mexico.....on separate trips, or one long trip? Join up with us along the way for a shorter time or start and finish with us. Life's a journey....not a destination. Or maybe it's both.
