What we're about

Whatever your age, background, or profession, we all live, work, and play within (and are supported by) this environment. This meetup group should serve as a forum for diverse organizations and individuals to execute trash cleanups in Richmond, Virginia, while educating our community on the damaging effects of litter and other pollutants. Let's beautify the city we love!

RVA Clean Sweep is a volunteer based clean up group. We are now under EnRichmond's non-profit umbrella.

Bellemeade Workday

Bellemeade Community Center

Our friends with the Sierra Club Falls of the James Groups are hosting this ongoing cleanup. You should check out the progress! The 9th Sierra Club Falls of the James Group (FoJG) workday in Bellemeade is scheduled. The Groundwork RVA Board Chair, Bob Argabright, is targeting the removal of invasive plants, other gardening activities, riparian/streamside restoration, and general cleanup near the Bellemeade Community Center (adjacent to Oak Grove/Bellemeade E.S.). FoJG members will work alongside Groundwork RVA high school students, VCU ASPiRE students, community volunteers, Richmond Tree Stewards, et al. Be advised that there is poison ivy in the woods where invasive plants will be removed. Long sleeves are recommended and proper handling of the clothes you wear is important so the oil doesn't touch someone's skin. While we're not trying to get rid of poison ivy (the berries are nutritious for some birds), it's growing among the Japanese honeysuckle & English ivy. Ticks are out -- use repellant and check yourself thoroughly when you get home. Please bring: Refillable water bottle (full) Work gloves Clothing appropriate for this activity (layers are recommended so you can add/remove layers to maintain comfort) Snack Plan on having a great morning with a wonderful group of volunteers. Pizza and fellowship at noon. Date: 04/06/2019 (Sat.) Time: 9:30am - 12:00pm EDT Location: Bellemeade Community Center, 1800 Lynhaven Ave, Richmond, VA 23224 Created by: DD Daryl Downing Already signed up?
