How long have you owned chickens?

Just since 2010.

How many chickens do you own?

Three, had up to five in the past and getting some chicks this spring, 2016.

What breed of chickens do you own?

2 buff orpingtons, 2 RI reds, one Americauna

What do you like most about owning chickens?

The eggs can't be beat and they are funny to watch.

How many people (other than yourself) have you helped get started owning chickens?

My wife and I were ringleaders in getting Durham to pass a backyard hen ordinance. Helped a friend build an almost-free coop mostly of pallets and scavenged material. Also teach a Hentopia coop design/build class every June. Check for details.

My wife and I started in 2010 with chickens. I'm a designer/carpenter/sculptor, I've created a chicken coop and hen habitat we call Hentopia. We can go on vacation for two weeks and my wife says we spend less time on chores than on cooking eggs!
