Our Book Club is currently accepting applications for a few new members. If you would like to be considered for membership of this select group of readers, please fill out the New Member Approval application.

This is a group for women who enjoy what other women have to offer and share. No age limit and no expectation except that you like to read. We meet the fourth Sunday of each month (3rd Sunday of the month in November and December due to holidays) from 4:00pm to 6:00 pm.

Membership and Attendance

We consider a member active who has RSVP'ed to a get together at least once within a 6 month period. Members will be removed if they have been inactive longer than that, but are welcome to rejoin. Twice a year, we take a collection towards Meetup.com dues which are $60 per six months for the entire group. Starting in 2017, we will be taking attendance in order to address no shows. Please be courteous to other members by updating your RSVP, especially if we have a full meetup for an event and have members on the Waitlist.

We choose our book with this process:

After attending at least 2 Book club Meetups, each member becomes eligible to bring a list of book selections to the next meeting.  At each meeting we "vote" on the selection and choose, as a group, what we read next.  The member who will present the next book selection is chosen by group consensus.  The assigned member will choose 3-4 books posting  the book selections (at least one week before the next meeting) under the "Discussions" tab on the home page of the Bookclub's Meet-up Webpage.  Book descriptions should include author, title, number of pages, and a brief description of the book.  A "hard copy" of the selections might be brought to the meeting by the organizer.  Because we meet monthly, a book length of under 500 pages is suggested.  As a courtesy, the member may check availability of the book at the library or by any electronic method. The San Pedro Public Library 's phone number is:  310-548-7779.
