React World Tour - Talks by the React community!

Details
We have a special meetup this month! React World Tour is coming to Chicago!
Join us virtually on Wednesday November 17th, 2021 @ 6:00pm - 7:30pm CT.
This meetup will feature some amazing React community members like Dustin Goodman & Westin Wrzesinski! Here's what they'll be presenting on:
------------
"GraphQL in the Enterprise!" by Dustin Goodman
GraphQL is not just a buzzword, but is a useful tool for both front and backend teams to be able to work more effectively together. We’ll cover GraphQL’s client operations and how to utilize them, how to design your GraphQL API, and developing the server API. We’ll show you tools like GraphiQL, GraphQL Playground, and Apollo for testing and building your APIs. Additionally, you’ll learn best practices to avoid common mistakes when developing your GraphQL API.
Dustin Goodman is an engineer, tech speaker, and blogger with 10 years of experience in web development. He currently acts as an Engineering Manager at This Dot, and actively contributes free community resources through This Dot Media.

"State Management beyond Context" by Westin Wrzesinski
With the onset of React's context and useReducer APIs we saw a large shift from the popular libraries such as Redux to smaller and lighter state management techniques. However this left many larger size applications asking the question: "What happens when context doesn't feel like enough but Redux feels like too much?" In this talk I explore some of the techniques used by other state management libraries such as `react-tracked` which allow for a small API surface area, but still provide robust and performant techniques for wrangling large application state and business logic.
Westin Wrzesinski is a Senior Staff Software Engineer at PayPal, where he works on the Web SDK team. In the past he's worked on a wide range of applications and team sizes from social media management tools to high frequency trading apps. During this time, he's had to consider the tradeoffs of many different state management solutions in terms of complexity, consistency, size, and performance. He is eager to share those learnings with the community to help others consider what is the best way to manage state in their front end applications.
