Facebook is inviting developers to compete for 230k in prizes by building software applications that help bring communities together.
We're getting together this month to form teams and hack away on applications to submit to Facebook's developer challenge. We're trying to get together with folks from OrlandoJS and the Backend developers meetup, which is why we're having the event at PowerDMS!
Here's how the night will go:
1. We'll have dinner.
2. We'll kick things off with everyone pitching ideas for apps.
3. Folks will form teams around those ideas.
4. We'll hack away until close to midnight.
5. Each team will present their progress and decide whether they want to keep working that week up until the global deadline.
If you want to start working on an idea now, you should join #fb-hackathon in the Odevs slack.
The only requirement is that you use at least one Facebook developer product. To compete for optional (10k) bonus prizes, developers are invited to build solutions across one of the three community categories (i) bridge on and offline experiences; (ii) build and grow community; and (iii) drive engaging communities.
