Details

Hi Folks!

We've been a bit lazy lately and more importantly busy, so meetups got out of hand. But! We are coming back.

Our schedule for this time:

18.00: Dinner (halal and vegetarian options should be available)

19.00: Why I am hooked on the future of React - Maurice de Beijer (@MauriceDB)

The React team rewrote the book on developing components. Before we had a choice between classes and functional components. Yet many components needed to be classes. A functional component was often too limited. Now, using hooks, we can extend functional components to be as powerful as we want.

Come to this session to learn what React hooks are and how to get started using hooks. But be warned, once seen React hooks can’t be unseen and your React components will never be the same again.

19.45: Domain specific languages in React - Meinte Boersma (@meinte37)

You know you can create apps with React. You probably also knew you can create games with React. But did you know you can also create full Domain-Specific Languages (DSLs) with React? If you didn't, this talk is for you. If you did, it probably still is.

In this talk, I'll live-demo a tiny, standalone DSL in React + MobX, based on projectional editing. No parsing tech required!

20.30: Beers!

About our speakers:

Further, Maurice is active in the Dutch dotNed user group and helps organize its meetings.

Meinte Boersma has been doing Model-Driven Software Development and language engineering extensively since 2007. He's done this for a variety of companies, and is now doing this for the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration. Currently, he's writing a book on crafting projectional business DSLs for Manning Publications.
