ReactJS Girls London #16

Details

Hey everyone!

Our ReactJS Girls London March meetup will be on the 19th March at YLD offices!

EVENT DETAILS

  1. Sonya Moisset (@sonyamoisset) - Security Engineer @ WorldRemit

Keep calm and secure your CI/CD pipeline

“Shifting left” significantly reduces costs and diminishes release delays. Continuous security validation should be added at each step from development through production to help ensure the application is always secure. We can then switch the conversation with the security team from approving each release to approving the CI/CD process and having the ability to monitor and audit the process at any time.

Around the work done with Pride in London*, learn how the GitHub Marketplace helped the team automating and improving our workflow with different tools for accessibility, code coverage, code review, code quality, security and other functionalities (alerting with Slack), and how you can apply it to your projects.

(*Pride in London website is a project using Gatsby2, Contentful and Netlify)

  1. Simeron Taak (@simeron03) - Software Engineer @ Cancer Research UK

How I got into learning React

There's a sea of different resources and learning styles out there for learning react, but how do you know which ones are worth investing your time into. Learning react for the first time and don't know where to start? Wondering how to get into it? Or are you an experienced React developer wanting to find out what its like to learn react now? This talk will walk you through my experiences of learning react and how I got into it as a junior dev whist learning Javascript at the same time. I'll be going through the challenges of that initial learning curve and getting your head around the basics and as well as what I learnt from this experience and how I am still continuing to learn to stay up to date.
