Building Streaming Applications with brookjs
James DiGioia (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jamesdigioia/)
Taking inspiration from React's declarative UI & Cycle.js's reactive model, brookjs is a new framework for building streaming applications. We'll take a look at what Observables are and why they're awesome, how brookjs & Observables enable some of functional programming's advantages, and how brookjs ties all of that together with Redux to build easy-to-understand applications.
Proven Patterns for Professional React Applications
Crysfel Villa (https://www.linkedin.com/in/crysfel/)
Over the last year my team and I developed a high performant mobile web app. We made some mistakes along the way, but we successfully deployed it and now is serving about 30M users. We had to add support for old versions of Android and iOS devices. One of the most challenging tasks was to support the Android Stock browser as well as webviews for popular apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Line and many others. In this talk I'm going to share the things that worked and things that didn't work for us, I will show some code samples and will tell you why you should or should't do that.
Push Notifications in React Native
Nan Xiao (https://www.linkedin.com/in/nanxiao85/)
In this talk I'll talk about problems we encountered when implementing push notification in our app, how we solved them, and what 3rd-party platforms we've tried.
Road to React
Jack Lenehan (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jack-lenehan-64729aa/)
In 2015, React was an exciting new tool that engineers were playing around with in their spare time. Our front-end codebase was fractured and inconsistent. Today, React is the foundation of a refactored, maintainable, and performant interface. I’ll talk through this process and subsequent transformation of our organization.

At MLS we’re all about providing first class user experiences to soccer fans around the world. We’re pretty big fans of React and other great modern tools that help us build those experiences and we’re looking for someone to join our mobile team to help build our brand new React Native mobile experience. If this sounds like an interesting challenge or if you just want to talk React, we would love to hear from you! You can find us after the talks or you can apply at https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/306047504/ or reach out to Kurt at kurtis.kemple@mlssoccer.com .
