This July we are excited to bring you the following talks:

Speaker: Zac Davis | 6:10 PM - 6:25 PM

Title: Stay Stylin' w/ Styled Components

Description: An introduction to styled-components in React along with some "pro-tips".

Zac is a Senior Software Engineer at HomeNet Automotive in Exton, PA. He is currently leading a product development team and building out a React component and widget library for use across multiple companies.

Speaker: Joe Ziemba | 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Title: React Render Props: How & Why

Description: The Render Prop pattern can be a powerful tool in a React app, but for the uninitiated, it may seem overly complex or even downright pointless without the right context! In this coding demo, we'll delve into the "why" of the render prop - the problems it can solve and the use cases where it really shines - while using it to implement a real feature request from my product at Elsevier: form field validation.

Joe is a software engineer on Elsevier's Precision Medicine team with a focus in React and front-end development. He's also a Bootcamp grad, career changer (from marketing to coding), a scrum master, a cat dad, and an avid Dungeons & Dragons player.

Speaker: Melody Starling | 7:15 PM - 8:00 PM

Title: Custom React Hooks

Description: When, how and why to use custom React hooks!

Bio: Melody is a 10x cactus taco eater, internet squid, and storyteller from Philly. Sometimes they'll cook up a fresh website or two wit wiz and React on a fresh amoroso roll. You can find melody online at!

Musical Artist: Looseleaf | 8:15 PM - 9:00 PM
The first time was such a huge success we're going to continue capping off our evenings of awesome talks with some music! Looseleaf will be playing right after our last talk!
