Reading Film & Video Makers, is 60 years old, not simply a Meetup start up group. Our membership is typically around 40-45, so the Meetup RSVP attendees do not reflect the true numbers who turn out each week. New members can join the club at any time throughout the season.
Unlike many Meet Up groups, where you pay just £1 to attend, we have running costs of hall hire etc, so you are welcome to come along for a £5 one off visitor fee, but otherwise you are invited to join as a member. Full annual membership is £50, and includes tea/coffee. (£25 for students). If joining part way through our season, costs will be discussed.
We meet every Tuesday evening from 8 – 10pm from September to May, in St. Andrews Church Hall, Caversham, Reading RG4 7AW. Our 32 week programme is a mix of hands on practical sessions, club and inter-club competitions, technical evenings, and Guest Speakers from the world of TV and film, so you get a LOT for your membership fee.
Members are male and female, come from all walks of life, and age from students to seniors. So EVERYONE is welcome. Cameras range from mobile phones, camcorders , DSLR's to professional gear. Some members own lighting and audio equipment, which we share during practical sessions. So whether your passion is filming, script writing, directing or acting, or just watching short films, Reading Film and Video Makers is THE Film Club to join in Berkshire. A premier at our club of a short film doing the rounds of Several Film Festivals, RFVM Member Writer/Director Eric Garson will show and talk to us about his film The Carter Sanction. Two other members will share their experience of filming LIVE events..... a very different experience to Directing a Script. Guests welcome for a payment of £5 cash on the night. https://www.thecartersanction.com/
