What we're about


Reading Friends is a group of friends brought together through our shared interest in socialising, making friends and helping people.

We are the Reading District of a national membership organisation called The Oddfellows. We offer you the great opportunity to make new friends and enjoy a variety of activities.

With Branches all over Berkshire and Hampshire. We meet together weekly or monthly at various sites across the local area. Our activities range from Exercise Classes, Art Groups, Singing Groups, Friendly Get Together Meetings where you can listen to a speaker, dining out, theatre trips, days out and quiz nights, plus much more!

Everyone is welcome to come along to our events although most of our members tend to be over the age of 55 but everyone is welcome. We're always looking for new ideas and things to do so please feel free to make suggestions too.

Gentle Standing and Seated Exercise Class

Needs a location

Join us for some gentle exercise suitable for those from 50+, all exercises can be enjoyed seated if desired.

The hall will be open from 10.30am beforehand for tea, coffee and chat.

Woodley Afternoon Group - The Hungerford Incident

Needs a location

Please come and join us when we welcome museum volunteer, John Oblein from the Thames Valley police Museum, hear his interesting talk all about the terrible August 1987 Hungerford incident which many of us remember. This significant incident resulted in the complete reform of UK gun legislation, John was a Scene of Crime Office at the time and played an instrumental role in the investigation.
This is one not to be missed.

Princess Alexandra Group - Social

Needs a location

We are pleased to welcome Kimble Earl from REMAP BERKSHIRE, a national charity who will provide custom made disability equipment which is unavailable to the general public. This will be a very interesting evening and they may be able to help with any queries you may have on specific items you may require in your home.
Refreshments will be provided.

Singing Together

Needs a location

Please come along and join us at our fun and relaxed singing group, no experience necessary!
The hall will be open at 10am for tea and coffee and chat beforehand.
