What we're about

Do you find joy in singing?

Did you use to sing in a church, High School, or College Choir and miss that special way you bond when you hit those chords as a group?

Or do you just sing in the shower and enjoy the sound?

Join our community of volunteer female singers who come to practice and laugh and ring our chords together. The only requirements are that you are female, can hear and sing a tune, and want to be part of a group. We sing a cappella in the Barbershop style (meaning 4 parts with the melody in the middle instead of on top), but you will pick that up from the tracks we listen to as we learn our parts. If you can read music, we have sheet music, too.

We are a part of the larger organization of Harmony, Inc, who currently works to help each individual find her voice through free online tutorials on Zoom and also semi-yearly contests and education days. These are days that serve as an opportunity to bond with choruses all over the US and Canada .

Our Reading Area Chapter meets weekly to rehearse, and when we can, we will resume doing performances for businesses, groups, and nursing homes in the Berks County Area.

Do you like to sing? Come sing with us Tuesday Nights!

300 Grace St

We invite you to join us at one of our weekly live rehearsals in the basement of one of our member's churches, the Nativity of the BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, 300 Grace Street, Reading, PA 19611. We currently have about 12 members aged from the early twenties to 80s. We are a chapter of Harmony, Inc, which is open to all women who want to find their voice. https://www.harmonyinc.org/ We are currently rehearsing to sing the Reading Royals game, as well as Reading Phillies, nursing homes, business meetings, and local churches.

First, which door to enter-

If you arrive at the church, there is no parking lot, but lots of street parking, as it is across the street from the elementary school.

Please face the church, and look for the yard sale type of sign on the lower left side of the church stairs at the edge of the sidewalk. This sign points the way down the pedestrian-only dead-end alley. Please walk down the sidewalk to the steel basement walkout door.

The door is heavy to open.

Second, -what to bring.

You only need to bring your willingness to get on the risers and either sing or stand and listen and join in when ready. We will have sheet music if you want it, but there is no need to read music as we have learning tracks available. It is ok if you don't know what part you would be, as most of us never sang Barbershop before joining, so the Director will talk with you when you arrive to mutually agree on a part you would shine in.

Third, we meet every week, weather permitting, but we also know that things come up, and not everyone can make it every week. We are happy to have you whenever you can make it, though we do hope you can practice in the car when you can.

First-timers, please RSVP or message me so we know to expect you. After that, it is not necessary to RSVP.

That's it. We can't wait to sing harmony with you! See you Tuesday at 7pm!
