Welcome all curious dragon boat paddlers! Miami Location
Dragon boat practice for the curious...no experience necessary! We have a fun, FREE practice for beginners every Saturday. First timers can "check us out for FREE" twice. Paddles and life vests are provided. Just bring some water for hydration, comfortable clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting wet, and join us for some fun and exercise on the water! (Sorry, we can only allow those 18 and older) https://www.facebook.com/RedDragonsMiami/?fref=ts Here is a fun video of us in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpPPA1uvQ-8 Please make sure to check your Meetup messages during the week before the course. You will receive further instructions from the event organizer. Weather - This trip needs to be free of lightning and thunder to begin; if we are caught out by lightning on the trip we will seek shelter and proceed when safe. Rain is OK - after all, it is a water sport. What if I can't make it this Saturday - Just send the event host a message and she will work some other time for you to join us. Location - The Miami Yacht Club has a private gated entrance that is usually closed to the general public. To get there, take I-395 East/Miami Beach. Immediately after you cross the first water bridge and pass the Miami Children's Museum, take the right-hand exit for Parrot Jungle Trail. This road will wrap around and take you back under the highway, then past the Jungle Island attraction. Once you pass Jungle Island, the road will curve left and you will come to a stop sign. Make a left and head toward the Yacht Club gate behind Jungle Island. If the gate is closed, a Red Dragon team member will be there to let you in. If the gate is already open, park in the spaces near the main building/swimming pool and look for the dragon boats near the shore. If you have any trouble getting in, just contact the organizer.

What we're about

Founded in 2002, Red Dragons Miami was one of the original clubs that started dragon boating in Florida. During the years, the team has been successful in becoming a cornerstone in the dragon boat community by winning numerous titles and launching an expansion team in Tampa in 2010. With practices in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, we remain committed to positively moving forward as an organization. Our teammates range from 18-65 years of age and work in a variety of professions. We train as 'family and friends' by complimenting each others strengths and weakness and building on the uniqueness of our ages, skills, cultures, life experiences, personalities, and professions. On our boat, we have twenty-two hearts which 'Beat as One'. Join us on the water so you can enjoy:

1. Chance to gain experience at local and national level;

2. Increased knowledge through training from our experienced coaches;

3. Develop technique, mental focus, and much more through various drills;

4. Improvement of self-discipline; and

5. Develop rewarding friendships both on and off water.
