We are the Birmingham metro area's non-profit Maker community. Our Mission is to provide a collaborative environment that promotes discovery, creativity, and exploration of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) We are located 5502 1st Avenue North and act as a hub for all of our activities.

At Red Mountain Maker we believe anyone can be a Maker!

Do you want to learn to use 3D printers, looms, microcontrollers, woodworking and metal working equipment, or even a soldering iron? Do you want to play with robotics, wearable computers, flashing LEDs, or just make something beautiful? This is the space to be at! Come visit our makerspace where creativity is powered!

We welcome all the tinkerers, programmers, engineers, DIYers and artists, scientist, cosplayers who have interest in being part of a makerspace will come out and participate.

MR101 Intro to Quadcopters, Multi-rotors and Drones

Red Mountain Makerspace

Want to learn more about Quadcopters, Multi-rotors and Drones? This class is intended for novices and experienced pilots looking to build and fly multi-rotor style flying aircraft. We're offering a hands-on experience with parts and assembled Quadcopters present, a printed out packet of resources and a presentation created by one of our local members. Key objectives of the class is to learn: Basics of how they operate * Key differences between different types of Quadcopters * Main components of a complete unit (Motors, Speed Controller, Rotors, Frame, Flight Controller, Radio, etc..) * Various modes of operation (Manual Flight, Acrobatics, GPS Waypoints, First-person Video and Follow Me) * Costs of common components * Safe operation before and during flight and regulations on use As an added bonus, your ticket to the event will enter you into a raffle for an entry-level ready-to-fly DJI Tello drone (Approx value $100) Tickets for the event are $15.
