The talk starts between 20:00 and 20:30 in the Math building in room M101.

Most likely, Andres will give the following talk: We will look at a few Haskell one-liners (compositions of basic higher order functions) and discuss how they are compiled and what the performance implications are. We will talk a bit about how Haskell's evaluation strategy works, and what tools we have to measure performance and to check what the compiler is doing. Then we'll discuss how things change if we add "effects" such as Maybe or IO to the mix. All of this should be reasonably understandable to Haskell beginners yet still be interesting for experienced users.
