I had one of the funnest days I’ve lived last week with Ed Asner, who’s the lovingest grouch there is. I’ve never seen more awards, every once deserved, especially those 7 Emmys. He’s the winningest male actor in Emmy history. On Tues, Jan 2nd, Ed’s bringing along his Grouchy Historian co-author, Ed Weinberger, whose collected a few awards hisself. He’s won a Peabody Award (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peabody_Award),3 Golden Globe (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Globe_Awards)s, and 9 Emmy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmy_Awards)s. HELLO?!? Where do they put the hardware?!? Asner’s take up every inch of surface space in his den. Also on hand will be comedian and writer, Sue Kolinsky, who I adores (Sex and the City, The Ellen Show-great story she’ll tell, The Osbournes, Top Chef,Last Comic Standing…) she’ll be reading, and making with the funny, and, Kiki Ebsen, who has performed with Boz Skaggs, Al Jarreau, Christopher Cross, and Tracey Chapman to name a few. Love her music. The Scarecrow Sessions is a collection of standards in tribute to her father, the late, great, Buddy Ebsen. It’s gonna be quite the day. *
