What we're about

You know that song by Akon, "Lonely, I am so lonely, I have nobody....?"

For most of us, embarking on a research project can be an extremely lonely journey.

And yet, the research journey is all about expanding your imagination.... which is really so exciting!! It really is an a-d-v-e-n-t-u-r-e !!!

If you're presently working through an Honours, Masters or Doctoral degree - or intending to do so - this group is the group for you.

From making decisions about postgraduate studies, to developing a research proposal ... from understanding different methodologies, to improving reading, writing and research skills ... from how to deal with demotivation, to dealing with supervisor-researcher challenges ... from preparing for your viva, to getting published ... This is what the RDA wants to assist you with.

The RDA takes the form of focused workshops, seminars, consultations, and social events. Many of these will be fee-based as professional development meetups facilitated by professional researchers and scholars. Appreciate this as part of your investment in securing your success in the world of work.

It is my absolute pleasure (!!!!!) to organise this group as one who has been an academic for 25 years at various universities in South Africa, Sweden and USA. Expanding my imagination and making a public impact through it ... excites me!

One of the highlights during this time was establishing and directing a successful research development programme for 6 years at Stellenbosch University in the 2000s, at a time before postgraduate research development workshops were the norm at universities in South Africa.

To date I have supervised almost 50 researchers (postdoctoral research scholars, PhD candidates, Masters and Honours students) to successful completion. The majority of them now provide academic/research leadership in their respective institutions and countries. I have personally facilitated numerous research development workshops for students, faculty members, supervisors, institutions, as well as individuals considering Masters and PhD work.

Feel most welcome to be part of this meetup group and to benefit from the services and engagement we will make available as exciting opportunities for the adventure ahead.
