make san carlos a sanctuary city

7pm sharp - we are asking the city council to begin the process of making san carlos a sanctuary city (first step in the process--they need to hear us and how many of us care about this issue)

It all seems far away in DC, but there is something we can do right here as citizens who work and/or live in San Carlos. We can make San Carlos a Sanctuary/Welcoming City. A "Sanctuary" or "Welcoming" city is a place where all people - regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity - are welcome to visit, live and work. It also means that the city will not use its resources for mass deportations of law abiding, undocumented immigrants or registries of any kind based on ethnicity, religion, etc. Over 400 cities across the U.S. are Santuary or Welcoming Cities including San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland and Berkeley. More and more cities are taking this step to protect and reassure their citizens. Like us, the cities of Redwood City, Menlo Park, Alameda, San Mateo, and Half Moon Bay are all currently in the process of joining this safe haven.
