Info From Swing Left National Campaign Call.
Needs a date and time

Needs a location

Here’s something amazing, Swing Left Community: More than 17,000 people signed up to be part of our kickoff call last night. That’s 17,000 Americans who are ready to lace up their shoes and get to work in Swing Districts all across the country. If you couldn’t make the call, don’t worry. The Swing Left bus isn’t leaving without you. Below is a recap of what we discussed and three ways you can take action right now. Why We’re Starting Now It might seem like November 2018 is far away, but in organizing terms, it’s really not. By the time most congressional races get underway, it’s often too late to build the ground game and reach enough voters. And in the weeks leading up to the election, these campaigns are often overshadowed by higher-profile, statewide races. The beauty of focusing on Swing Districts (which are winnable by definition) means that the groundwork we put in early can pay off big time come Election Day. Kicking off Phase 1: Research and Recruitment To be effective at campaigning in Swing Districts, we need to be as educated as possible about them. We need answers to some big questions, like: What’s the story with the current rep? Who are the key organizations and political players? What’s on voters’ minds? We’re asking for volunteers to take on research tasks, some of which can be done online, and some of which will require getting out there and talking to voters. Another critical part of Phase 1 is engaging more people in our mission to take back the House. Nearly 300,000 of you have already signed up to be part of Swing Left, but winning back the House next year will take the support of millions of Americans. That's why, over the weekend of March 4th, we’re asking volunteers to host or attend house party meetings to get started now in building our teams on the ground. Action Items There’s something that all of us—no matter our experience level or location—can do to pitch in. Here are three ways to get started right now: Host one of our house party meetings for local Swing Left volunteers the weekend of March 4th. (Don’t worry if you’ve never done something like this before. We’ll make sure you have the tools you need to make it a success.) Join the team doing online research about your local Swing District. Sign up with our partner #KnockEveryDoor and set up a canvassing event in your nearest Swing District to get started on the all-important work of talking with voters. The biggest takeaway from the call on our end is seeing just how many of us are fired up and ready to take on the Trump agenda—one House race at a time. We’re playing the long game. This is where victory begins. Ethan, Adrienne, Matt, and the Swing Left Team P.S.
