## Talk #1: Kubernetes past, present and future | Brendan Burns
We are very excited to welcome you to an evening with Brendan Burns - the co-founder of Kubernetes.
Brendan can talk about the origins of Kubernetes, where we are now and where we are going or answer your questions about everything you ever wanted to know about Kubernetes. He will present the Microsoft perspective and contributions to current cloud native projects in Azure as well as in the community. Be prepared for an exiting evening with beer/ pizza and Kubernetes.

## Talk #2: Extending existing apps with Istio, Knative, and Kyma | Krasimir Semerdzhiev, Andreas Thaler
Krasimir and Andreas will walk us through one possible approach of extending existing apps (i.e., Wordpress) without messing up with them (too much) by using cloud-native technologies side-by-side. Both of them firmly believe that event-driven serverless apps are the way forward for add-on development and that a proper service mesh and service-catalog based consumption of reusable functionality is a promising way forward for software customization. They’ll be happy to answer any questions or get ideas and further feedback on how Kyma is to be evolved.

## Brendan Burns | Distinguished Engineer @ Microsoft
Brendan Burns is a Distinguished Engineer in Microsoft Azure and co-founder of the Kubernetes open source project. In Azure he leads teams that focus on containers, open source and devops, including the Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Resource Manager, Service Fabric and Azure Linux teams. He also has contributed many significant pieces of code to the Kubernetes project, including most recently work on client libraries for working with the Kubernetes API. He has been involved in open source for more than two decades, over that time he has acted as maintainer for projects as diverse as the JMeter load testing tool, the DroidDraw WYSiWYG designer for Android and the port of the Quake II to Linux.
He has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a BA in Studio Art and Computer Science from Williams College.

## Krasimir Semerdzhiev
Krasimir Semerdzhiev is a Software Architect at SAP. He’s passionate about open source and cloud native technologies, motivated to bust the myth that “cloud software” necessarily equals “standard software”. He has been working on middleware platforms for almost 20 years, starting from the (back then - modern) Java EE servers with Java 1.4.2, moving through SAP’s PaaS offering, diving straight into open source with project Kyma. He has a MSc in Computer Science from Sofia University and MBA from Sheffield University. You can usually catch him on CNCF-related events or reach him as @evilyeti on Twitter.

## Andreas Thaler:
Andreas is a Software Architect and Product Owner at SAP. Together with his team he is an active contributor to Kyma with the current focus on the Kyma-CLI. He has been working on spring-based java backends and cloudfoundry based microservices and is now amazed to work on his first bigger open source project. He is a real ‘Berliner’ having studied Computer Science at Freie Universität Berlin and you can reach him as @a-thaler on Twitter.
