Every journey has a destination. Your journey through Toastmasters—from delivering speeches to acquiring leadership skills to mentoring others or even becoming a professional speaker—will lead to a place of experience and confidence from which you’ll turn goals into realities.

And you won’t be alone. Along the way, you’ll become a part of a supportive group of people in your local area who share a common desire: to improve communication and leadership skills through practice, peer feedback and objective evaluation.

You’ll also become part of a worldwide organization dedicated to supporting members and constantly improving the Toastmasters experience.

http://9373.toastmastersclubs.org/ Speak with Confidence - Become the Speaker And Leader You Want to Be Find Your Voice - Shape Your Words And Your Future Welcome Aboard Richmond Dragonmasters Toastmasters Club "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." - Mahatma Gandhi Great words of wisdom from Gandhi. Richmond Dragonmasters Toastmasters club, a member of Toastmasters International public speaking clubs network, welcomes you. If you are interested in overcoming your fear of speaking in front of a group of people, developing your speaking skills or your leadership skills, you have come to the right place. Perhaps this is something which is on your list of self improvement goals or perhaps you need to work on your impromptu speaking skills to help you in situations like job interviews or networking with others in you field. Toastmasters provides an educational program which gives you tips on different aspects of public speaking along with feedback from your peers after each speech you deliver. Pick a Goal in Line with Your Priorities People who tie their educational goal to their personal or professional priorities have greater motivation to complete their goal, especially when things get tough. John, who serves as Vice President Education (VPE) for his club, notes that those who achieve their educational goals know exactly why they’re in Toastmasters. “They have a vision and know what they want to get out of their time.” For example, John’s Toastmasters goals fell directly in line with his desire to become a professional speaker. Mary places a high value on personal growth and development, which the Toastmasters program assists her in achieving. Consider: What are your top priorities in life? Which Toastmasters goal is most in line with your priorities? Depending on your situation, you may be more interested in the communication track, the leadership track, becoming a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) or serving as a club officer. Members who wish to focus on communication skills begin with the Competent Communication manual that’s included in the New Member Kit. Once they have completed this manual, they can progress to manuals in the Advanced Communication Series. http://www.toastmasters.org/members/memberexperience/educationalprogram/communicationtrack.aspx Members working in the leadership track learn and practice leadership skills by serving in club roles. http://www.toastmasters.org/members/memberexperience/educationalprogram/leadershiptrack.aspx The Distinguished Toastmaster award is the highest our organization bestows and it recognizes both communication and leadership skills.
